Arai Tour-X5 Pinlock 120XLT MaxVision - Clear & PrecisionTone
The Pinlock 120XLT MaxVision anti-fog lens for the Arai Tour-X5 reliably prevents the visor from fogging up in cold weather, rain, and high humidity.
Available in two variants: Clear for maximum light transmission and PrecisionTone with additional automatic tinting in sunlight.
FEATURES
- Pinlock 120XLT MaxVision technology
- Highly effective anti-fog protection
- Moisture-absorbing material
- Continuous silicone seal for an insulating air layer
- MaxVision for a particularly large fog-free field of vision
- Especially for Arai Tour-X5 VAS-A Pinlock visors
TWO VARIANTS
1. Clear - Transparent
Classic transparent Pinlock lens without tint. Ideal for all light conditions, especially in bad weather, twilight, and darkness.
2. PrecisionTone - Self-tinting
Combines anti-fog protection with a photochromic tint that automatically adapts to UV exposure.
- Clear in low UV exposure
- Slight darkening in sunlight
- Tint range: Clear to Light Smoke
- 100% UV protection
IMPORTANT: PrecisionTone only provides a moderate tint and does not achieve the darkening of a Dark-Smoke visor.
CONCLUSION
Clear is the universal solution for maximum light transmission. PrecisionTone supplements the anti-fog protection with a subtle automatic tint - especially practical in changing light conditions.

The part fits and the quality seems to be good. But the tinting effect is way too weak. You can see it when you watch yourself in the mirror and you notice it when opening and closing the visor. But when it is sunny, I need sunglasses nevertheless. I own a photochromatic visor of Shoei that works perfectly. But this one: not working as expected.
Thank you very much for your detailed feedback and the comparison photos. We looked into this carefully following your review.
The difference you observe compared with your Shoei is absolutely real. However, the two products are designed to provide different levels of tinting. According to Pinlock, and as stated in our product description, PrecisionTone changes from Clear to Light Smoke and is not designed to reach the darkness of a Dark Smoke visor.
Customer feedback reflects this as well: some riders find the maximum tint too light in strong sunshine, while others appreciate the moderate tint, especially in changing light conditions, wooded areas or when entering tunnels. Ultimately, the perception of sufficient tinting is also very individual.
Your photos clearly show that the PrecisionTone insert is reacting to UV light, so its behaviour appears consistent with its intended function.
If you require stronger sun protection, Arai also offers TINTED and DARK TINTED visors for the Tour-X5. Both versions are currently available from us and may be a better solution if reducing strong sunlight is your main priority.
Thank you again for sharing your experience and the very useful comparison. We hope that, aside from the tinting not meeting your personal expectations, you were satisfied with our service, fast delivery and your overall shopping experience with Motorrad Venture.
Best regards
Louis
