A motorcycle trip can bring heat, rain, cool mornings, motorways and gravel roads. Choosing the right jacket and trousers therefore involves more than the length of your ride. Together, we look at weather protection, ventilation, freedom of movement and how your gear fits.

KLIM: personal advice since 2017
KLIM motorcycle clothing is a key part of my range. I have been helping riders choose their KLIM gear since 2017. We compare models for the way you travel and try them on to find the cut that suits you.
The Badlands Pro is designed for long-distance adventure travel and uses a three-layer GORE-TEX Pro construction. The Carlsbad combines waterproof materials, ventilation and features designed for adventure touring. The Latitude belongs to the touring range. For warm conditions, other, particularly air-permeable designs are also worth considering.
These examples do not replace a fitting: model generations, features and fit can vary. You will find the specific details on each product page. Together, we work out which combination makes sense for you.
GORE-TEX, ventilation and layering explained
Waterproof GORE-TEX motorcycle clothing combines rain protection with breathability. In a laminate, the membrane is bonded to the textile. Weather protection is therefore part of the garment, rather than a separate rain liner that needs to be fitted.
Waterproof and water-repellent mean different things: the membrane keeps water out, while the water-repellent treatment on the outer fabric helps water bead off. If this effect wears off, the outer fabric can become saturated even though the membrane remains waterproof. Always follow the care instructions for the individual product.
We also discuss your base layers and insulating midlayers. This lets us allow room during the fitting for the combination you will actually wear on your trips. For hot weather, we consider ventilation and rain protection separately.
Advice and fitting: time to find your fit
Quality equipment should fit you properly. That is why I take time in the showroom to compare different sizes, cuts and product ranges with you.
- Which motorcycle do you ride, and what is your riding position?
- How much of your riding is on-road and off-road?
- Which destinations, temperatures and weather conditions do you expect?
- Which base layers, midlayers and protectors do you want to wear?
- How much freedom of movement do you need when seated and standing?

Adventure helmets, luggage and travel gear
A well-matched travel setup goes beyond a jacket and trousers. At Motorrad Venture, you will also find helmets from KLIM and Arai, protective clothing and selected luggage and travel equipment.
For a helmet, we compare fit and features for your needs. For luggage, we look at your motorcycle, the capacity you need and the mounting method. The range includes luggage from SW-MOTECH and Giant Loop, as well as backpacks from USWE.
I’m Louis – experience from my own motorcycle travels
After several years as export manager at SW-MOTECH, I founded Motorrad Venture in 2017. My own motorcycle journeys have taken me through Alaska, Australia, Patagonia, Morocco, the western USA and many parts of Europe.
Those experiences inform my advice. My aim is to help you put together equipment that suits the way you travel, from everyday riding to a major trip.
