Keis heating vests - How do they work?

Our Keis short-sleeved heated vests are a must-have for outdoor activities on foot: hiking, observation, skiing, etc. The description below covers models V501RP, Lady B501WRP and the new B601RP vest. All the important steps are illustrated on video.

Unlike motorcycle heating jackets, vests can be perfectly powered by our Keis lithium batteries. Vests are less powerful and warmer than jackets, because the heat demand on a motorcycle is enormous, as speed cools the whole body. This is not the case on foot with a vest. This allows us to use very practical batteries in small format.

HEATING SYSTEM

This is the heart of the Keis system, often copied but never equalled. Developed and improved since 2007, our heat generation and transmission technology provides extreme comfort and reliability.

Heat is generated by large heating panels distributed throughout the garment. The back, torso and collar (except V501RP, which has no collar) are heated, ensuring even heat distribution over the entire body.

What's more, thanks to the use of carbon micro-fiber, an excellent conductor of heat, the heat produced by the multiple heating panels spreads throughout the garment's fibers: the sensation of warmth is intense, providing the body with the calories it needs to resist the cold. As a result, the body's vital functions are kept perfectly warm, and the blood sent to the limbs is also warmed, contributing to an overall sensation of warmth and well-being.

USE

Our Keis heated vests are worn under the main jacket and over a light first layer such as a t-shirt or undershirt. They replace all intermediate warm layers such as sweaters. As a result, the body is no longer engulfed and blood circulates freely, further enhancing heat distribution. The outer fabric of the vest is windproof, while wicking away perspiration and moisture.

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER

Each vest comes with a heat controller. It allows you to regulate heating power on three different levels, for perfect comfort at all times. The heat controller connects to the vest's outer left ventral pocket in the slot provided.

The vests are supplied with the classic temperature controller, available here as a spare part. A long press on the central button switches the vest on. A short press changes the heating level. Another long press turns the jacket off.

POWER SUPPLY

1. Keis lithium Li-ion battery

We recommend powering vests with Keis lithium batteries. Two batteries are available.

The first is the large 5.2A battery. It offers a Powerbank function with its USB connection. It can power a vest for between two and six hours, depending on the heating level selected.

The second is the pair of 2A batteriesoriginally designed for gloves. The advantage of this solution is that one battery can be charged while the other is in use, so that the vest always has enough power. Each battery can supply between one and three hours of power, depending on the heating level selected.

2. By vehicle battery

Every Keis heating product comes with a battery connection cable. This cable simply plugs into the vehicle's battery. The battery connection cable is available here as a spare part.

CONNECTIONS

Each vest has built-in connectors for other Keis heated garments. By connecting another Keis garment to the vest, it will be supplied with electricity automatically, and you only need to manage the vest's power supply. Be careful, however, to take this extra power consumption into account, as it may drain the battery to which the heated garments are connected more quickly.

On the left hip, a female socket is ready to receive either the cable from the heated tights, or the cable running down to the heated insoles.

For gloves, connection cables running down the sleeves are available on request.
